Hey there! I’m James, a single leg amputee, husband, father, and avid traveler originally from Detroit, MI, now living in Tennessee. I like to say I’m a fun-loving, adventurous, and unstoppable guy who’s always ready with a joke and a big smile.
My journey hasn’t been easy. First, I lost my leg after being hit by a car, which resulted in an above-the-knee amputation. Later, in a separate accident where I hit a pole, I lost my eye. These challenges could have stopped me, but instead, they made me stronger, more passionate about life, and determined to live fully.
One of the things I’m most excited about right now is my scuba diving training; Yes, a double amputee learning to dive! That’s just one of the many adventures I’m embracing, and through this blog, I want to bring you along for the ride.
This space is more than just my story. It’s tied to my foundation, Amputees Are Awesome, which raises money to help amputees get the prosthetics they need and supports them in pursuing lifelong goals: whether that’s traveling, trying a new activity, starting a business, or anything else that fuels their passion.
By subscribing to this blog, you’ll get to know the real ins and outs of life as an above-the-knee amputee. You’ll hear my adventures, meet inspiring people with disabilities, and learn how we’re working to make life better for amputees everywhere.
If you’re moved by what you read, I’d be honored if you considered donating to help us provide prosthetics and life-changing opportunities. Together, we can show the world that amputees really are awesome.
So, come join me! Let’s dive in, laugh, explore, and make a difference. The best is yet to come.
Donate today and help us keep the momentum going!
